Riot of Spring Colours

AS the spring season is just around the corner, the provincial metropolis is awakening from its deep winter sleep with the riot of colours all around the city with many a colorful events being held including the refreshing exhibition of paintings by Ufaq Ehsan opened at Colours Gallery, Gulberg, on Friday.

Ufaq Ehsan loves colours and her creations are deeply immersed in mesmerising patterns of various colours. Ufaq has brought her latest works in the solo exhibition at the Colour’s Gallery which has opened today attracting tasteful individuals and general public along with artists and art lovers. Ufaq told The News that “colours play a vital role on the human psyche. My work is inspired by this wonderful world of colours and their healing powers. Sound, fragrances and people all around inspire the colours I choose and the imagery that prevails in my work. From the time that a single painting begins to the time I complete it, the personalities, auras and moods of people around me shape my work, which makes each painting unique”.

What inspires this brilliant artist and from where her true inspiration stems is in her own words “Spirituality”. She said “spirituality is my inspiration, so it is no wonder that through symbolism, I choose to express my perception of all that I see. About the present exhibition , Ufaq commented “In the current series, the very basic and common symbol of a flower and the Arabic alphabet “? “(waw) is predominant. The flower represents the womb and the “? “(waw) the unborn child within. The series has been named “Red-The Rebirth” where the womb signifies the Mother Earth and how it affects us all whereas the “? “(waw) depicts myself being reborn again and again through my paintings. All in all, I am what my paintings are and my paintings are a mere fraction of what I am”. To know more about me and my work, kindly visit my website www.ufaq-ehsan.com.
