Spreading not only the pleasures and pleasantries of life but also the torment and agony of your soul and emotions on canvas through colours is a real test of an artist.

Ufaq Ehsan is such a soul who is sensitising the canvas through the mix of colours. She is holding an exhibition of her artwork at the Saeed Akhtar Art Gallery on March 31, 2016 (today). The event will start at 6.30pm.

Ufaq believes that art consists of elements including form, colour, line, tone and texture. “Art is not mathematical, or algebraic in nature where you exactly add and subtract to find an exact calculation and balance rather it is a transformation of personal feelings and emotions depicted on the canvas with colours extracted from the nature itself,” she said.

Ufaq Ehsan is a born Lahori and is proud to have her roots in this historic and cultural city. She inherited the love of painting and inclination towards arts from her parents, particularly her father, who himself is an immaculate painter and encouraged and nourished the passion of painting in her daughter and helped her polish her skills.

The ever gentle and caring heart and humane spirit of Ufaq Ehsan made her work for the special children in American school of International academies as well as developed the syllabus for the special children remained an honorary art consultant at Fountain House in 1997.

Her first exhibition was conducted in 1993 at Xinhua Art Gallery and the first solo exhibition was carried out at Ejaz Gallery Lahore in 2003.
