Review of my latest ongoing group show exhibition on THE DAWN newspaper LAHORE, July 23.
An exhibition of calligraphy paintings by 10 artists from Lahore and Karachi featuring new approaches and ideas attracted a large number of art enthusiasts at Ejaz Art Gallery on MM Alam Road on Tuesday.
The exhibition was an amalgamation of modern and traditional calligraphy nevertheless the ratio of contemporary and experimental works was bigger than traditional artworks.
Despite Ramazan, a number of art fanciers came to the exhibition, which is part of a series of exhibitions held every Ramazan in art galleries of the city to celebrate the holy month.
Shahid Rana, Ajab Khan, Ahmed Khan, Jamshed Qaiser, Zulfiqar Ali, Arif Khan, Shakil Ismail, Asghar Ali, MA Bukhari and Ibrahim Ramay were the artists who participated in art show.
Jamshed Qaiser, who exhibited his work in Italy sometime ago, told Dawn that he would soon put his new work on display.
Najam Pirzada, an artist from Lahore, said: “It’s a wonderful art show depicting some rich works in calligraphy.”
Participating artist Arif Khan described the exhibition as a bouquet of new thoughts, approaches and thoughts. The exhibition will continue for more than a week.
